So it’s nearly over, once again …. 😢 we have this huge long build up and then bam it’s all over in one day!
The older I seem to get, the quicker it seems to be over.
In the last 5 Christmas’s I’ve been pregnant 4 of them with only last year I was pregnant free and able to drink and party the nights away with my family, this year I am 34 weeks pregnant and again it’s been a soft one with a odd little glass of Buck’s Fizz. It’s been amazing though. We spent the week with my mam who loves over in Hull.
She made it really special for us and wouldn’t let us pay for anything bless her, we offered to pay for all the food and luxuries but she wouldn’t take a penny from us as she wanted to make this year extra special as me, Cen and the kids are moving back to Turkey in the summer.
My mam did an amazing job and succeeded in a fab Christmas. She cooked us a beautiful lamb dinner with all the trimmings, and we had a starter of melon / or prawn cocktail (my fave).
Cen came up to hull to join us for 2 nights over Christmas Eve and Christmas night and he returned back home Boxing Day evening due to work commitments. We did the usual, get up early Boxing Day and hit the sales in town, to be honest it was soooo quiet. Hardly any people around at all. Usually it’s mega busy and you can’t move in the shops.
Cen managed to find himself some fab cheap bargains and myself……well he bought me a stunning rose gold bracelet and my fave perfume, also found a nice key ring for my car keys. To be brutally honest with you I felt like I had walked into willy wonkers chocolate factory and then been told I’m a diabetic and can’t eat anything 😢😢😢 at nearly 9 months pregnant there was just nothing that I could possible buy and it was all stunning dresses ect.
I’ve actually lost weight while I’ve been pregnant and only Put on the weight of the baby so I have no idea what size I’m going to be once the baby is out and my body is settled back to size. Also no point in buying anything now as il only use it for a matter of a few weeks and then I won’t need it again, I certainly am not wanting anymore children as we are about to complete our little family.
So our Christmas went a little like this…..
Christmas Eve my mam and i did activities with the kids, colouring, baking, decorating gingerbread house, making icing shapes and watching lots of movies and eating chocolates. Not Forgetting leaving out a plate for Santa and Rudolph and sprinkling sparkly reindeer food all over the front garden to light up the path to lead Rudolph to grandmas house.
On the plate, Santa was left a mince pie, a glass of white milk because the chocolate milk would go off and poison Santa when he drank it (said my 5 year old who I think secretly wanted to keep that chocolate milk for herself 😉😂) my 3 year old also wanted to leave Santa a little biscuit he has decorated earlier that day.
Rudolph was left a bottle of water and a carrot.
Once the kids were in bed and Cen had arrived, we settled down and watched the terrible Christmas Eve tv. Seriously what was going On with the tv this year? The programs they were showing and the amount of repeats were absolutely diabolical! Either that or we have just been Completely spoilt with Netflix, prime, fire stick ect.
Either way, the programs that were on were rubbish!! We needed up watching a film and eating a duck dinner I made and then lots of choccies 😍.
Off we went to bed and listened out for Santa’s bells hehe.
8:30am, (yes the kids slept until 8:30) arrived and we all seemed to wake up at the same time, we made our way down stairs once we were ready and of course switching the kettle on was the most important job to do first hehe.
We grabbed our hot drinks and sat down in the living room to let the kids dig into their pressies. They were amazed just how many presents Santa had brought them, also they laughed at what Santa and Rudolph has left on their plate.
The kids and us, thoroughly enjoyed opening all our presents together.
After a look st all our gifts and a little play and look at them (we also had a some pan au chocolate slices in between all the opening to stop us all from wasting away from starvation.
Then suddenly it was time to start the dinner, my mam disappeared into the kitchen and i helped her do odd jobs and also I cooked some beaut garlic sprouts cos they are my fave part of a Christmas dinner 😍😍. We all sat down and enjoyed our gorgeous lamb dinner. (nobody likes turkey in our family)
Of course we were all absolutely stuffed when we got half way through and we had to leave it and go back to it later on For a 2nd attempt at finishing it.
Now it was the usual and very traditional Christmas afternoon of lazing around, unbuttoning the top Button of the jeans and having a sleepy lazy few hours while the dinner settled. The kids enjoyed this time playing with their new toys.
Later on when the kids were tucked up in bed, all snug. Me, my mam and Cen watched the soaps and a movie until we got sleepy and went off to bed.
We woke up early Boxing Day for the sales, my mam looked our kids and me and Cen had a few hours of alone time so we could do a bit
Of shopping without the stress of the kids getting board and being monsters. Around 12:30 we met my mam and children at the hull new theatre as we were treating them to see this years cinderella pantomime. It really was a fab show and it’s something I’ve enjoyed doing every Christmas since I was a child myself.
Our 5 year old girl seemed to go really weird and quiet as she was watching the show, she does the same at the cinema. I’m not sure why, it’s like she’s turned so serious or even shy??? Our early 3 year old was so funny though, he absolutely loved it and he actually fell in love with cinders. Every time her scene finished and she went on stage, he was shout cinderwelllllaaaaaaaa, to which at one point he stopped the characters in their tracks and he and the rest of the crowd all started laughing and shouting awww, while all turning to look at us. (Red face alert)
Well the show was fab and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! It was even worth the £2.50 tiny tubs of ice cream hehe.
As we got home it was sadly time for Cengiz to pack up all his bits and head off home. This was a sad time for me and the kids as we missed him so much when he went. Now me and kids are still at my mama house in hull and we are just chilling and enjoying our time here.
Tomorrow me and adem will make our way home back to york and Esme will stay with grandma for a week until school starts again, she absolutely adores being with grandma and she wants to spend new year here. Once they arrive back at ours in york, my mam will then spend a week or so at my house as Cens away again but in Turkey this time and there’s a chance I may just go into labour so I really don’t want to be on my own with the kids and no one in york or close to help in the emergency of early labour. (I’ve been in slow labour for 2 weeks already and I’m now still only 34 weeks.)
What was your Christmas like? What did you get upto??
I’d love to hear all your stories.
All the best everyone and hope you have a very happy new year.
